Hi, I’m Bruce and welcome to Long Time Travel.

I took my first overseas trip to Greece in 1982 and that lit the fuse to what has been a life-long obsession with travel. I grew up in Melbourne, Australia and spent a lot of my working life there, in between long-term stints living abroad in London, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Portugal.

In December, 2018, my beautiful wife, Lisa, and I quit our jobs to travel extensively through Mexico and Central America. It’s been the best decision we ever made!

So far I’ve been fortunate enough to visit 45 countries across all of the populated continents of the world – Antarctica is on my very long wish list – and I’m hoping to visit many more.

Apart from travel, my hobbies include sports, cooking, reading, listening to music and working out.

Hi, I’m Lisa

I was born and raised in New Zealand and moved to Melbourne, Australia with Bruce in 2001.

Both of my parents love to travel and it was no surprise that I followed in their footsteps. I spent three months in Germany as an exchange student when I was 17 and also lived and worked in London for a couple of years in my early twenties. My biggest travel challenge was undertaking a solo trek around the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal in my early twenties.

I’ve loved exploring and discovering new countries with Bruce. My initial priorities when going to a new country are to explore and try as many snacks, chocolates and chips as possible and to discover where there are stairs I can climb.

Traveling through Mexico and Central America has been amazing and really opened my eyes to what beautiful and interesting places they are. I’m hoping we can add Patagonia into our not too distant travel plans.

Here’s a flavour of our 2019 adventures, taking in Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Cuba. 38 different beds!
